Good to know

The signature is saved into the PDF as a picture, like a scanned signature, so it shows in every PDF reader.

For contracts and deeds, check what the other side needs. Our short guide to electronic signatures in the UK explains the basics and links to the official sources.

Questions

Is a signature added this way legally valid?

In England and Wales an electronic signature can generally be used where a handwritten one would be, but some documents (deeds, for example) have extra rules. See our guide, and take advice for anything important.

Can I sign on my phone?

Yes. Open the PDF from Files or an email attachment, draw your signature with your finger and share the signed copy straight back.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The editor runs in your browser and opens files straight from your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is nothing for anyone else to see or keep.
